Vladimir Estivill Castro
is currently team co-leader of MI-PAL, who has participated in over 8 edition of RoboCup
in the Standard Platform League (including the last 3 editions).
His main interest are software engineering, algorithmic engineering, computational complexity, intelligent data analysis, privacy preserving data mining and knowledge discovery.
Prof. Estivill-Castro holds a Ph.D. from the University of Waterloo in Canada and degrees from UNAM in Mexico.
He serves in the editorial board of the Journal of Research and Practice in Information Technology, is editor
in chief of the series Conferences in Research and Practice in Information Technology.
Prof. Estivill-Castro is a scholar based at Griffith University in Australia but regularly visits the Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Spain.
He has authored over 100 technical conference and journal articles and several book chapters and encyclopedia chapters
and one monograph. He received an Australian Teaching and Learning Citation for Ph.D. Supervision in Computer Science
in 2010 and the best Paper Award at the Australasian Computer Science Conference in 2012.
He was keynote speaker at the Sixteenth International Conference of the
Catalan Association of Artificial Intelligence (CCIA 2013).
He has received competitive funding in Australia, Canada, Mexico, and Spain.
